About the competition

scratch_cup_logo_emptyNow in its fourth year, the UoG/DASCO Scratch Cup was set up to give students who enjoy the challenge of creating a Scratch game the platform to showcase their work and earn the recognition they deserve from amongst like-minded students.

I learnt so much from doing the Scratch Cup game – although I didn’t win, I had such a good time – can I PLEASE come again next year?! – Emma (yr 5)

The competition is hosted at Dartford Grammar School for Boys, a Lead School in the Network of Excellence for Computer Science. The competition is overseen by three Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs) for Computer Science (two primary and one secondary school teacher).

The competition is run in two parts: the Yr3/4 Scratch Cup for students in year 3 or 4; and the Yr 5/6 Scratch Cup for students in year 5 or 6. Schools can enter either individual or pairs for each year group. Each entry (either as a pair or as an individual) is given a score out of 20 by each judge (60 points in total) and the winners are the students with the highest scores in each categories.
